I see a beautiful girl dressed in traditional Fulani attire, wearing a long flowing dress with a scarf that barely covers her waist, yet the scarf is tied so that no one can see her body outside.

Her outfit is a light shade with a hint of yellow, and she has a long face with an elegantly shaped nose that extends to her mouth, which is small like a termite mound. She has large eyes that seem to be half-closed, and her eyebrows are finely arched.

Her stature resembles that of someone who has been dressed to impress, with fine wisps of hair resting on her forehead like those of a baby.

Masha Allah, this girl is a combination of beauty; she is tall and slender, but Allah has blessed her with prominent hips. You could mistake her for a mature woman, and there are signs of fullness on her chest, indicating that she possesses the wealth of the Fulani women who are beginning to blossom.

This girl is no older than 15 or 16, but just one glance at her reveals that Allah has created her beautifully.

She carries a Fulani staff, raising it above her, seemingly attempting to gather a herd of cattle grazing in a beautiful pasture, as the grass is lush around her, and the cattle are feasting.

She begins to walk towards the cattle that are a bit distant, as she stands by a tree watching them graze.

She raises her head and sees that the sky is gathering dark clouds, and it seems that rain may fall at any moment.

"Come on, let's go home, my friends; I don't want this rain to come and catch us as I'm not ready to catch a cold."

She speaks to them in Fulfulde, lifting her staff. It seems that those who hear her begin to make their way home.

She smiles as she follows them, raising her staff higher.

They walk together, just her and the herd of cattle; there is no sign of fear around her. She sings a song as she raises her staff high.

After nearly five minutes of walking, I start to see their hut not far ahead.

Suddenly, I notice that all the joy on the girl’s face disappears; worry takes the place of her earlier happiness, and I see her body grow cold as they approach a hut that seems to be their home.

The herd of cattle starts to gather, and she quickly ties them up before heading into the house, her mouth greeting everyone.

At that time, it had already begun to rain.

There is no one in their courtyard, which makes her let out a sigh of relief as she hurries to another hut.

But before she reaches the door, she hears a loud shout, causing her staff to drop to the ground.

Startled, she turns around, her body trembling like a leaf. She rushes to where the woman who shouted is.

"Look here, auntie," she says, her voice trembling. I find that the woman is dressed in white but is dirty and unkempt, with a very rough face, showing no signs of kindness.

She stands at the door of the hut, glaring at the girl who is crouched before her.

In anger and annoyance, the woman begins to speak harshly.

"What are you trying to do entering the room, will your father fetch the water for you? Or have you left your chores behind at home?" the woman says, her eyes wide.

The girl, shaking, begins to speak, "By Allah, I thought the rain was coming, that’s why I didn’t fetch any water," she replies, her voice shaking with fear.

The woman slaps her hard without pity, saying she has just returned from herding and hasn’t eaten, yet she is trying to push her into the stream.

"You wretched child, by Allah, you are the one who should fetch that water for me, your father’s servant," the woman says, tightening her grip on the girl.

The girl falls hard, her hand hitting a stone placed in the courtyard.

She cries out in pain, clutching her hand, which is suffering from a terrible sting.

"Oh no, my hand is breaking, auntie, it hurts!" she exclaims in agony.

"You useless child, you are just like everyone else, you look like a spirit, and now you want to act like you’re the most beautiful one here? I hate your ugly face, I wish you would get up or I’ll make sure everyone is rid of you," the woman yells, expressing her deep-seated hatred.

In a hurry, the girl rises, grabs a plastic bucket, and leaves, crying loudly.

She walks a long distance before reaching the stream; by that time, she is still crying, her hand is in great pain, and she quickly fills the bucket because the rain has started to strengthen.

But what happens? As she turns around, she bumps into a gigantic snake that suddenly appears, hissing loudly.

A wave of terror overwhelms her; her body shakes so violently that she doesn’t even realize when the bucket falls from her hands and shatters.

This is the kind of chaos that seems unending; the girl enters a state of panic, overwhelmed by fear.

She places her hand on her chest, crying out louder.

"Oh no, I’m dying, I’m perishing; what will I do with my life? Oh my father, oh Allah, help me!" she cries, looking at the broken bucket, realizing the sun has fully set.

Meanwhile, the snake, seeing how she stands and looks at it, seems to be preparing to attack, so it swiftly moves towards her.

She screams with all her might, falling to the ground, gasping for air, as the snake approaches her with its mouth wide open.

Readers, what do you think?

What are your thoughts on this story? I’d love to hear your comments if you enjoyed it, so we can continue.

The snake emerged from the water inside Fattu, stopping right in front of her face as it broke its head, staring intently at her face, which had already closed her eyes in a state of unconsciousness, unable to breathe normally.

The snake, seeing that she wasn’t even moving, descended from the water and positioned itself near her face, exhaling into her. It then pulled back a little, still watching her.

Slowly, Fattu opened her eyes a bit to see what the snake was planning. How was it organizing her death? But as she opened her eyes, they landed on the snake, which was fixating on her with its gaze.

Filled with fear and apprehension, Fattu locked her eyes onto the snake, unable to look away. She noticed strange things about the snake; its pupils weren’t like those of typical snakes. Instead, they were similar to those of humans but had a unique mix of colors—blue, yellow, pink. However, the actual color of the pupil was black.

Then she saw tears flowing from the snake’s eyes as if it were crying.

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihir raji’un, Allahumma ajirni fi musibati wa akhlifni khairan minha, la ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minazzalimin” was what Fattu began reciting in her heart, her body trembling and shaking. She had never seen such a snake before today; how could a snake have human-like eyes? Moreover, its body was very different from other snakes; it had an astonishing physique, just as the colors of its eyes were unique. Also, it wasn’t as large as the snake she encountered yesterday, but it was still quite big and genuinely long.

A silent gaze was exchanged between Fattu and the snake, and gradually, it began to calm down from its earlier agitation. Fattu watched as it returned to a normal state. Then it attempted to leave the room through a small opening by the wall, which Fattu hadn’t noticed until today. It seemed to have found a way out.

It approached the exit and then turned back, looking at Fattu. It didn’t leave but also didn’t come back inside.

Fattu’s body was trembling as tears flowed down her face because today, everything felt suffocating. What kind of SNAKE was this? Was it really a snake or some other creature? Why hadn’t it done anything to her? Was it trying to save her or was it just waiting for her to stop breathing? Truly, there was something to investigate about this snake.

“Fattu! Fattu!! You’ve woken up; it’s time for prayer,” she heard her grandfather’s voice from outside the room.

At the sound of her grandfather’s voice, Fattu’s mind relaxed a bit. In a raised voice, she said, “Grandpa, come help me; the snake hasn’t moved!” she cried, looking at the snake.

Her grandfather quickly entered the room, exclaiming, “Subhanallah! What has happened to my Fattu?”

Crying, Fattu looked at her grandfather, then turned to where the snake was, still standing and watching her.

“Grandpa, I don’t know what happened; it just came in and attacked me, and then I fell to the ground,” was how Fattu described her state, her voice trembling.

Slowly, the snake turned its head and exited through that small door.

At that moment, Fattu regained her composure. Gathering her courage, she sat up. Fear and shock were still evident on her face as her body continued to tremble.

“My hand! It hurts!” she said softly, closing her eyes, as her hand was causing her intense pain.

Her grandfather fetched cool water for her from above and poured it into a basin. Suddenly, she jumped up, screaming, “Oh God! The snake is going to kill me! Grandpa, the snake is tormenting me! Oh, my neck! Oh, my hand! It’s unbearable!” was what Fattu cried out, waking her grandfather up from his shock.

“Calm down, my dear; there is no snake. It was just a mirage. Fattu, my daughter, please, you need to calm down,” her grandfather said, trying to reassure her.

Fattu opened her eyes wide and looked at them before saying, “Oh God, please protect us from this evil spirit; I swear, it was trying to devour me. I swear I saw that girl, the wicked one… Oh God, it’s back! It’s back!” she exclaimed upon seeing the snake again.

Her grandfather shook his head, disappointed in the situation, not liking how his wife was reacting. He looked at Fattu, who was clutching her painful hand, tears streaming from her eyes.

“Please, Fattu, be patient. Everything will be alright. Allah knows what you are going through, and if He wills, you will smile again soon,” her grandfather said in a soft voice, trying to soothe her.

Slowly, she wiped her tears from her eyes before saying, “Grandpa, my hand is hurting!” she said, pointing to the hand that was in pain.

He looked at her hand, which was swollen and painful, and with sympathy, he said, “Oh, my dear Fattu, I’m sorry. You need to gather yourself and pray. I will check your hand; please be patient; may Allah bless your husband,” he said, helping her to stand.

“Ameen, Grandpa,” she replied, stepping out of the room. She entered the bathroom, fetched water, and performed ablution skillfully before returning to the room. She prayed and read the Holy Quran as she had been taught. After she finished, her grandfather entered the room carrying a bowl.

“Fattu, take this milk and drink it; I will check your hand,” her grandfather said, offering her the bowl. She took it slowly, saying Bismillah, drank it all, then set the bowl aside.

Oh God, Fattu suffered a lot while her grandfather was treating her hand, as it was very painful, and she cried, even tearing up. But her grandfather continued to treat her, saying soothing words. After finishing, he told her to lie down and rest until the day was fully bright. She lay down, sighing deeply, and before long, sleep overtook her, as if she had never slept before.

Her grandfather left the room, heading back to his own, full of concern for his daughter, whom he deeply loved.

Not long after, while sleeping, she heard her grandmother’s voice calling her, “You mischievous girl, come out, or your mother will do this to you! You shameless girl, I swear, you won’t get away with it after what you did to me! Come fetch me water now!”

Startled, Fattu jumped up from her sleep and rushed out, shaking with fear, as she was terrified of her grandmother. “Grandma, what do you want me to fetch water for?” she said, shrinking back.

“Come fetch me water, do you hear? Find me money to pay for it, or you will fetch me water for nothing!” her grandmother yelled from the room, refusing to come out so Fattu wouldn’t encounter the snake.

Dear readers, at this point, Fattu’s grandmother’s children were still asleep in their room.

But she was determined to push Fattu to fetch water that morning, even though she wasn’t well, as when her grandfather was treating her hand, she could hear her cries. Lying on the bed, she was suffering from the torment inflicted by the snake. “Wicked girl, you will taste the pain I endured. May Allah break your hand so that everyone can be free.”

“Please, Grandma, have mercy on me; I swear I don’t know where I will get the money,” Fattu cried.

“By your mother’s life, get out of my sight! I swear whatever you do won’t bother me as long as you can bring me three Muratal and ten Naira,” her grandmother said, pulling out a dry bowl of dough to throw at Fattu.

By the grace of Allah, the bowl fell on her, and she quickly fled from the house.

“You wicked girl, you stayed here!” her grandmother shouted as she lay down, not even having said the morning prayer.

As soon as Fattu left the house, she cried heavily, not knowing where to go, where she would get three Muratal and ten Naira? Who would give her this money? Maybe she would go to Jauro and ask him to help her with three Muratal and ten Naira? No, she wouldn’t go because Jauro was not a good man; that day he had even tried to grab her hand, saying he liked her, and her grandfather had said such a person wasn’t trustworthy.

For nearly five minutes, she pondered and wallowed in her thoughts before deciding to simply go to the river and sit down, hoping Allah would help her find a way to fetch the water.

She walked slowly, and with just one glance at her, you could tell she was not feeling well. She was holding her painful hand with the other hand. She headed toward the river, which was located behind the village in the forest.

“Hey, Jauro! Did you see what I saw?” one of the boys called out, sitting on a tree nearby the river where Fattu was heading.

“Jauro, the one they call Red, raised his head from where he was hiding, smoking a cigarette and said, “What did you discover?”

“I swear, it’s Fattu, and she’s the only one I saw heading toward the river,” he said in a teasing tone.

Quickly, Jauro looked in the direction the boys were pointing, and indeed, he spotted Fattu. In a rush, he jumped down from the tree and exclaimed, “Whoa! Today we will definitely get her; I swear I will almost devour Fattu today!” he said with excitement, following the path Fattu was taking as she approached the river.

The boys followed behind him, saying, “I swear, I will also have my share today. When you finish, I will enjoy my meal.”

They hurried as they walked, and in no time, they caught up to her. Suddenly, she felt them grab her from behind.

She looked at them with fear and apprehension, saying, “What is this, Jauro? Let me go!” she said, trying to show no sign of fear.

They burst into laughter at her, and then Jauro said, “I swear, Fattu, today I will almost devour you. Allah has brought you to us, so lie down!” he said ignorantly and insensitively.

Filled with fear and anxiety, Fattu began to back away, saying, “Jauro, what have I done to you? Are you going to eat me? Please have mercy; I don’t want to die; I want to see my mother!” she said, tears streaming down her face.

They laughed and clapped their hands before one of the boys said, “Jauro, just grab her, for she won’t lie down, and it seems she doesn’t even know what you mean.” Upon hearing this, Jauro seized Fattu, saying that now she would understand what he meant. “Girl, you have reached your limit, but it will be of no benefit to you,” they immediately started to struggle, him trying to take her down, while she was resisting and trying to free herself. Being a boy, he overpowered her until he brought her down, and her hand was still hurting.

He sat on her stomach, trying to remove her shirt, while he had already taken off his pants, leaving only a stench around him. The other boy stood behind him, ready to defend him no matter what happened.

Fattu screamed in pure terror and panic, feeling utterly horrified to see what Jauro was attempting to push into her mouth, saying, “Come on, Fattu, this is how we do it; just take it, there’s pleasure in it.” He insisted, trying to push his manhood into her mouth, and just the sight of it horrified Fattu, for she had never seen such a large breathing object until today.

“Oh God, I’m in trouble! Jauro, what is this you’re trying to give me? Please, I don’t want it! Oh, my hand! Oh, Grandpa, I’m going to die!” she screamed, her body going numb.

“By God, today, whether you like it or not, Fattu, I will almost devour you because I’ve been starving for too long. Today, nothing will stop me from doing… Oh God! What is this?” Jauro exclaimed when he felt something heavy drop on him, causing him to crouch down and then he bit his lip.

Fattu screamed loudly in terror…
